The Memory that had come Rushing Back….

The pitter patter of raindrops,
As they fell from the sky and onto the ground.
Disappearing into the depths of the land,
Bringing with it a sense of joy.

The smell that came with the water,
As it mixed with the mud on the floor.
The freshness of everything around,
Evoking emotions long forgotten.

He shook his head from side to side,
Attempting to get rid of the memories flooding in.
And yet, they paid no heed,
They flew in as they wished.

The scene in front of his eyes, the rain and the garden,
They disappeared from his eyes and his mind.
And all that was left that he could see,
A young boy and his mom!

The beautiful lady was chasing the boy,
He could hear their laughter as they ran afar.
They ran with no fear in their hearts,
Only the love on their faces and their minds.

He took a step back when he finally saw,
The face of the boy as he turned his way.
His mind couldn’t understand the scene,
The memory that had come rushing back.

He shook his head coming back to the rain and the garden,
Turned and walked into the empty house.
He knew what his heart was telling him,
And he knew what he needed to do.

He picked up the phone and dialled the number,
His heart, beating in his chest.
All he could muster with the love flowing into his voice,
