What happens in a Corner…

She sat in a corner in her room, alone

She could hear the party in full swing outside the door,
And yet, she sat in a corner, she sat alone.
She knew her friends would find her missing soon,
And she knew she didn’t have long until then.
She wanted to shake that feeling off and walk back into the party,
And yet, she knew she wouldn’t enjoy herself.
She felt like the weight of the world was on her shoulders,
And she knew she had to carry it on her own.
She had a feeling that this wasn’t a cloud that would pass over soon,
And yet, she couldn’t resign herself to this fate.
She could hear someone calling out her name in the distance,
And yet, all she wanted was to disappear in her corner.
She felt someone enter the room before she saw,
And she knew the time had come for her face the world.
She finally saw who it was only when they stepped right in front of her,
And yet, no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t convince her body to listen and get up.
She finally saw the face of the person who had found her,
And the expression on that face took her breath away.
She could see tears starting to fall from the eyes,
And yet, she could do nothing to comfort.
She heard her old friend call out to the people outside,
And she finally realized what had truly happened.
She didn’t want to believe it, she didn’t want it to be true,
And yet, she knew she had no choice.

She knew the end had come for her!
