She had noticed the barkeep eyeing her a couple times. However, she had a weird feeling that he wasn’t actually ogling at her, but rather to some extent, he was actually worried about her. Every time her eyes caught his, she had this weird feeling as though she was almost looking into his soul.
She spent barely 5 seconds thinking about him. Soon, she was back to staring at her drink, holding on to Ryan for dear life. She felt Ryan give her a squeeze. He bent and whispered in her ears, asking her if she was alright. She looked up at his face, giving him a reassuring smile. After all, she didn’t know what else could she do.
About 5 minutes later, she knew she was tired of the bar. It had been a bad idea right from the start. And however much she drank, she didn’t seem to be able to get drunk today. She laughed out loud. She still remembered the last time she had got drunk. SHe had been with… Well, it didn’t matter now but she concentrated on remembering how much she had drunk. After about half a bottle of vodka, she had been incoherent. It made her laugh when she realized that after about twice that, she still wasn’t even tipsy today.
She got off the stool. Immediately, she felt Ryan’s hand come around her waist, turning her to face him. She looked up at him, giving him as much of a normal smile as she could and whispered into her ears, ‘I just need some fresh air, I’ll be back soon. Don’t worry!’. She gave him a peck on the cheek and began walking towards the closest exit. She could feel someone’s eyes on her as she walked, but today, she really wasn’t in any mood to worry about who thought she was pretty.
The minute she stepped out, the cold air hit her face. It was refreshing and cleared her head. For about two minutes, nothing ran through her mind. She wasn’t gloomy or sad or anything like that. She was just, peaceful. The cold air almost seemed to carry her thoughts away from her.
‘Hey’, A voice called out to her.
She turned around to see the barkeep standing right outside the door looking at her. She couldn’t read his expression.
‘Are you alright?’, he asked. His voice was deep, what most people would see as husky and very sexy. His eyes were on a whole new level, deep, you could almost see right into his soul. They were the kind of eyes that most girls claimed they got lost in.
He took a tentative step towards her, almost like he was scared of how she’ll react.
She smiled up at him tentatively. She had no clue why he made her feel safe by just being there. This was a guy she had never met.
She shook her head, trying to clear her head. ‘I should be heading back to my friends.’. Saying that she took a step to cross him and go back inside.
All of a sudden, his hand came around her wrist, he looked down at her and said, ‘Don’t worry, let me help you, talk to me’.
Se didn’t know if she was creeped out or touched by these words of his. But some part of her already trusted him, that much, she knew…
