The Immortals of Meluha… A Review!

The stories behind the gods in the Hindu Pantheon have always been enthralling.

Even when compared to most fiction, they still have the edge. They always include everything there is to a story – fantasy, action, a stellar story, exceptional characters, that hint of romance, and so much more, enticing the readers and keeping them on the edge of their seat.

That is why to this day, we Indians absolutely love our myths, our traditional stories, and the whole package.

Now, take one of these amazing stories and convert them into fiction with splendid writing, what you get is the ‘Immortals of Meluha’ by Amish.

Based on the story of Lord Shiva, a revered god in India, this novel is an exaggerated, fictional version of his life story.

For anyone who has always wondered about the story of Lord Shiva but never had the patience to read the ancient scripts, this book gives a fictional version that takes enough from the actual myth to keep the basic idea intact.

But this in no way, makes the story specific for the Indian audience. Rather, Amish has made the book loveable for readers across the globe.

I absolutely adore this book. Remember, here, I’m only talking about the first book in the series!

So, ‘Immortals of Meluha’ follows the story of Shiva, a tribe Cheif from the Himalayas who is brought to the haven of Meluha that provides him and his tribe, all the comforts they seek. Given a magical medicine – the Somras, all of them are brought to perfect health conditions, except for Shiva. Shiva ends up instead with a blue neck. Thrown into the role of the savior ‘NeelKanth’ because of his reaction to the Somras, Shiva is left with the task of saving the amazing country of Meluha.

With just the perfect blend of romance, action, fiction, and fantasy, this book is definitely a must-read.

So if you haven’t already read it, go get your copy now!
