Remember how, until maybe 3 or 4 years back, the only kind of writing there was, was article writing or paragraph writing. Today, this has almost multiplied and we instead have, article writing, content writing, blog writing, social media writing and so on and so forth. Too many to keep track of and literally different from each other by that very basic ideology.
Of these, one of the most important, I’d say, is content writing, despite the fact that it is the least prevalent one in a country like India. Until maybe a year and a half back, most of the people didn’t even know what content writing was. And since then, its popularity and demand have risen. But maybe until very recently, it hasn’t precisely been understood or demanded.
When I first decided to do an internship, there was this one application that I like specifically. It was for a content writer in an advertising agency ‘Out of Box’. The name itself was different and I liked it. I figured content writing was nothing different from article writing. But I took the chance and googled it. This is what Google told me,
“ A content writer is a person who specializes in providing relevant content for websites. The content should contain words (keywords) that attract and retain users on a website.”
Doesn’t make much sense, does it? But here’s the difference, when you write an article, you’re showing your style, your grammar and how well you can write.
When it comes to content writing, however, it’s completely different. Here, you’re trying to express something specific, get a point through or maybe even sell a product or service.
So far, here’s what I’ve learned, Content Writing, it just isn’t that easy. Every sentence has to concentrate on what you’re trying to sell to the readers and at the same time, you have to make sure that you keep it formal or informal, depending on what you’re writing for!
But at the end of the day, what really matters is if you love writing enough!
